Phil + Meagan // Intimate Wedding in Church Ruins
Discovering Salem Baum Church: A Timeless Gem Near St. Louis, Missouri
Located just half an hour outside the vibrant city of St. Louis, Missouri, lies a hidden gem that continues to captivate hearts: Salem Baum Church in Waterloo, Illinois. My fascination with this enchanting place began with a single Instagram photo, and the anticipation of exploring it was undeniable. Over the years, we've had the privilege of capturing numerous weddings at this truly unique venue, and its charm remains as irresistible as ever.
The history of this abandoned church dates all the way back to 1883, a century before my time, yet its enduring allure stands as a testament to timeless beauty. The roofless stone structure bathed in natural light is a rare find in the Midwest and offers a distinctive backdrop for any occasion. On this particular wedding day, dark storm clouds loomed, occasionally releasing gentle rain. Far from dampening spirits, the weather added an enchanting touch of moody ambiance to the setting.
Our couple, Phil and Meagan, embodied the kind of laid-back attitude we admire. They embraced the weather's unpredictability with grace and a sense of adventure. These are our kind of people! 😉
If you're in search of a wedding venue that stands apart from the ordinary, Salem Baum Church deserves a top spot on your list. Its timeless charm and rich history continue to create unforgettable moments for couples and photographers alike.

And we never get tired of this picturesque setting in the woods.
